31 Days of Inviting Positive Change
Day 4: Adding more of the good
Yesterday you let a friend (or a few?) know that you’re grateful for them. How did that feel? How did they respond?
Today is again about adding in. And this time we add a healthy habit that will do our body good. Our bodies are amazing at coping but they could do with a bit of help from us! This is not about cutting out or dieting. This about adding something good. For example, drinking more water, adding a portion of fresh vegetables to our lunch and dinner, adding fruit to our elevenses. Or doing 10 push ups once day, or 20 squats or 30 jumping jacks.
Now, a word of warning here: it’s January, we’re keen to do better, start the New Year with good intentions. And that’s great! But often instead of good intentions we really think PERFECT implementation. Which often doesn’t work out as we had hoped which demoralises us and we give up pretty quickly. Not helpful.

An example I see so often: Someone has made it their good intention to drink two litres of water every day because they’ve heard that’s a good thing to do. Great! They then buy a big bottle of water, or have a big refillable bottle, and proudly carry it into work for all to witness. Fab! The bottle follows them everywhere. It gets left somewhere. It gets retrieved. A sip is taken here and there. But at the end of the day it’s still half full. The enthusiasm weans quickly. It seems like too much hassle and quite difficult. And it’s a bit embarrassing having to admit defeat. Overall, not a helpful strategy.

My suggestion would be to go for small chunks. By all means have your water bottle on your desk but with a glass next to it. Set an alarm for every so often to remind you to drink a glass or two. Before you know it, the bottle will be empty. Or if you tend to run around a lot, make a point of drinking a glass of water each time you sit back down at your desk.
Rant over ;)
What do you want to add in to make your body feel better? And why? “Because I think it’s healthy” will often not be enough to see us through to the other side of things otherwise you'd be doing it already :)
Make it something specific, make it something personal.
Again, the possibilities are endless and if you could do with some help with finding the best strategy for you, we can have a quick chat to find out what could work best for you. Simply send me an email or contact me via my website www.KatrinaNiesitka.com .
Join me tomorrow for Day 5 of our 31 Days of Inviting Positive Change :)
