31 Days of Inviting Positive Change
Day 2: Smelling the Roses
Yesterday, we created, and added to, our Gratitude Jar. Today we will add thoughts of gratitude to our day.
This is not only about practicing gratitude. These techniques are the building blocks for adding ANY new habit to your life!
Where your Statements of Gratitude for your Gratitude Jar at the end of the day are more for things that have happened during your day, your Thoughts of Gratitude are about observing and acknowledging all the beautiful things that surround you already. Here, you simply use your senses and notice what your see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

You can add this mindfulness technique to a specific action you do every day already, like walking to and from the station on your daily commute, or when doing the dishes.
Again, the possibilities are endless. I personally enjoy my Thoughts of Gratitude when I’m walking; to and from the supermarket, to and from my Pilates classes and clients, to and from the station. But it’s also a lovely way to add some joy to your daily chores you do around the house. |
As with any new habit, the best way to make it stick, is to link it to one very specific action you already do daily. That way you don’t have to make extra time for it. In the beginning you’ll have to actively remember that your Thoughts of Gratitude are now part of that daily action and as with anything we do repeatedly, at some point it’ll just be what you do.
Which daily action will you sprinkle with Thoughts of Gratitude?
Join me tomorrow for Day 3 of our 31 Days of Inviting Positive Change :)
